Who We Are

The Mercer County Humane Society is an organization of individuals who care about the welfare of animals and want to try to help educate individuals of the overpopulation and effects it has caused in these now overcrowded shelters! We do not own nor run the area shelter , which is owned but the Mercer County Commission but we do provide information on the shelters animals and their contact information. The animal shelter can only hold an animal for a certain period of time and due to the overpopulation has to humanely euthenize once it gets crowded. We provide the contact info of who you need to contact for each animal on their info page. Please do not contact the humane society about an animal which is at the shelter, they need to be contacted directly.

we also help in this area by providing this pefinder site to anyone wishing for help in placement of an animal and would like a photo and info added to this site for the animal in need.

Donate a BedWe use Patented Kuranda Dog Beds because they are durable, chew proof and easy to clean. If you would like to donate a bed to us, click here.

Adopting a Friend

If adopting through the mercer shelter , fees are: Male dogs/puppies-$55.00, Female dogs/puppies-$55.00 Cats/kittens-$30.00 which all fees include the spay/neuter and the rabies shot.

Adoption fees through the humane society or other area person/group , fees vary depending on the services provided to the pet prior to adoption. If the animal is under a certain age, or time does not permit the animal to be altered prior to adoption, proof of alter will be required within a certain length of time after adoption.

We also have a facility that will inexpensively house animals when people want to save an animal they find or may have seen at a shelter but cannot themselves adopt the animal. . we also are in need of blankets, carpets, rugs, rawhides, chew toys for these animals while they are here waiting for their furever home!@ one of the numbers above can be contacted for info on this. This is probably one of the most important things that can be done and it has saved hundreds of animals in this area and surrounding. For example: if you would like to board a homelss animal for one month, the boarding fee would be $150.00. For 2 weeks the fee would be $70.00 If you would just like to send whatever you can to help one who may need care while there or donate toys or balnkets, that would be wonderful!!@@
